Recently we received the anouncement of the launching of the Brunei Medical Association on 13th July 2008. We think that this is a good move. Looking at the constitution, it is good that those in the admin are not able to become the executive members of the association as we do not want another body headed by the DGMS. It is bad enough that the Brunei Medical Board is under him and we all have to get his approval before we can practice in Brunei. It is not the same in other countries.
Kudos to those involved in the Brunei Medical Association and we hope they will play a major role in improving the working condiotions of doctors in Brunei. We will try to help in whatever form required.
